【起源】1、源于西周，陆终之后。陆终第五子曹安裔孙挟，周武王时封于邾（今山东邹县），建立邾国，为鲁附庸国。邾挟之后夷父，字颜，称邾颜公。邾国被楚国灭后，子孙以祖父的字为姓，称颜姓。2、出自周公旦伯禽之后。周公的长子鲁侯伯禽被封于鲁。子孙被封在颜邑，以封邑为姓。

During the reign of King Wu of Zhou, Xia was enfeoffed in Zhu (present-day Zou County, Shandong), establishing the State of Zhu as a vassal to the State of Lu. A descendant named Yifu had the courtesy name Yan and was known as Duke Yan of Zhu. After the State of Zhu was annexed by the State of Chu, his descendants adopted his courtesy name, Yan, as their surname.

2. From the Lineage of Bo Qin (Duke of Zhou): Bo Qin, the eldest son of the Duke of Zhou, was enfeoffed in the State of Lu. Some of his descendants were granted the Fief of Yan, and they subsequently adopted the name of their fief as their surname.
