【起源】 华氏源于子姓，出自西周初年所封的宋国公族后裔，属于以先祖字号为氏：
华氏血缘可追溯至商朝王室后裔、宋国（都城在今河南商丘）的第八任国君宋戴公。
宋戴公的孙子名叫“督”，字“华父”，在宋国担任太宰（相当于宰相）重职，史称“华督”或“华父督”。
华父督在当时权倾朝野，曾由于政治斗争杀害了大司马孔父嘉（孔子的先祖）及宋殇公，并用重金贿赂齐、鲁、郑等诸侯国，从而自任宋国相国，独揽大权。

The original meaning of 华 (Hua) is "flower." In its complete Oracle Bone Script form, the character resembles a tree in full, magnificent bloom. In ancient Chinese terminology, flowers blooming on trees were specifically called Hua (华), while flowers blooming from plants on the ground were called Rong (荣).
【Origins】
From the Zi (子) Surname (State of Song): This lineage originates from the State of Song during the Spring and Autumn period.
Historical Context: Du, the grandson of Duke Dai of Song, went by the courtesy name Huafu (华父). He served as the Grand Chancellor (Taizai) of Song.
Rise to Power: Historically a controversial figure, Huafu Du assassinated the Grand Marshal Kong Fu Jia (an ancestor of Confucius) and Duke Shang of Song. He secured his position by bribing the neighboring states of Qi, Lu, and Zheng with heavy treasures, eventually appointing himself as the Prime Minister of Song. He then established a clan name based on his courtesy name, Hua, and became the founding father of the Hua clan.
