【释义】兰，本义是兰草，即香草。，也称泽兰。多年生草本，菊料，有香味，全草可供药用。

【起源】在周宣王执政时期，把同父异母少弟姬友封于郑（今陕西华县），称郑桓公，为西周最后分封的一个诸侯国。郑国传至周襄王姬郑二十五年（郑穆公姬子兰元年，公元前627年），郑桓公的孙子姬子兰即位。传说，郑穆公之母在生他时，梦见天使手执一株兰草，异常恭敬地赠予她，其时幽香扑鼻，醒来似乎余味无穷，不久即产下一子，遂将其取名为“袄”急。姬子兰在位二十二年，逝世后谥号为“澳”卤，史称郑穆公。子孙以名为氏，称兰氏。

2. The Legend of the Orchid Dream: The lineage traces back to Ji Zilan (Duke Mu of Zheng), a grandson of Duke Huan. Legend has it that before his birth, his mother dreamed of an angel respectfully presenting her with a sprig of thoroughwort. The room was filled with a lingering fragrance. Shortly after waking, she gave birth to a son and named him Lan (Orchid).

3. Adoption of the Surname: Duke Mu of Zheng reigned for twenty-two years. After his passing, his descendants adopted his personal name, Lan, as their surname to honor his prosperous reign and the auspicious circumstances of his birth.
