阳氏图腾释义

【释义】阳，“明也”。意指高出而向阳的部分光线充足，十分明亮。在甲骨文和金文中：“阳”字左边是阜，右边上部是“日”，下部是“标杆”。整个字形是太阳照射在有台阶的山坡上，而且可以用标杆来衡量。因此，“阳”的本义是阳光照射，引申特指河的北岸和山的南面。

【起源】源于姬姓，出自源于东周时期周景王之子姬樊的封地，属于以国名为氏。在周景王姬贵执政时期(公元前544～前521年在位)，将自己的小儿子姬樊封在阳邑(今河南济源)，史称其为“阳樊”。其后裔因为躲避内乱来到燕国，家于无终（今天津蓟县），以原封邑为氏，为阳氏。

The character 阳 (Yang) means "brightness" or "light." It refers to the part of a high terrain that faces the sun, receiving ample light and appearing very bright. In Oracle Bone and Bronze Inscriptions, the left side of the character is 阜 (Fu, representing a mound or steps), and the right side consists of 日 (Ri, the sun) at the top and a pole/marker at the bottom. The entire glyph depicts sunlight shining on a terraced hillside, where the shadows can be measured with a pole. Therefore, the original meaning of Yang is sunlight, which by extension specifically refers to the north bank of a river or the south side of a mountain.

1. From the Ji (姬) Surname: This lineage originates from the fief of Ji Fan, the son of King Jing of Zhou during the Eastern Zhou Dynasty. It is a surname derived from the name of a state/territory.

2. Historical Context: During the reign of King Jing (544–521 BC), he enfeoffed his youngest son, Ji Fan, in the territory of Yang (present-day Jiyuan, Henan). He is historically known as Yang Fan.

3. Migration: His descendants later moved to the State of Yan to escape internal political turmoil and settled in Wuzhong (present-day Jixian, Tianjin). They adopted the name of their original fief, Yang, as their surname.
