4. Transition through Dynasties: After Tang of Shang overthrew the State of Ge and established the Shang Dynasty, he re-enfeoffed the descendants of the Earl of Ge as a vassal state. After the final dissolution of the state, the descendants adopted the state name as their surname, Ge.
