3. The Three Branches: By the time of Goujian's sixth-generation descendant, King Wujiang, the State of Yue was conquered by the State of Chu. Wujiang's second son, Ti, was enfeoffed in the area south of Mount Ouyu (in present-day Wucheng). In ancient Chinese geography, the south side of a mountain is called Yang, thus he was titled the Marquis of Ouyang Pavilion.

4. Formation of Surnames: The descendants of Wujiang adopted names based on their fief (Mount Ouyu) and their noble title (Marquis). This led to the formation of three distinct but related surnames: Ou (欧), Ouyang (欧阳), and Ouhou (欧侯).
