The lower part is composed of irregular "mouth" (口) and "foot" (止) symbols, depicting people trekking through the jungle to search for treasures in the mountains.

Derived from the Mi (芈) Surname: This lineage originated from the fief granted by King Cheng of Zhou to Xiong Yi, the great-grandson of Yu Xiong (a descendant of Emperor Zhuanxu). It is a surname adopted from a state name. King Cheng enfeoffed Xiong Yi in Danyang with the state name Jing. Later, the capital was moved to Yingcheng (present-day old Yingcheng in Jiangling, Hubei), and the state name was changed to Chu. His descendants adopted the state name as their surname.
Derived from the Ji (姬) Surname: This lineage originated from Ji Linchu, a high official (Shang Dafu) of the State of Lu during the Spring and Autumn period. It is a surname adopted from an ancestor's name. As a descendant of Ji Linkai (a concubine's son of King Ping of Zhou), the progeny of the Lu official Linchu took his name "Chu" as their surname.
