【释义】娄，据说是一种獾。据《韩诗外传》记载，北方有兽名曰娄。
【起源】源于姒姓，出自大禹后代的封地，属于以封邑为氏。周武王姬封大禹的第三十六世孙为东楼公，封他到杞邑(今河南杞县)。战国时期 (公元前445年)楚惠王一举灭杞国，杞简公在位仅四年，就成了杞国的末代君主。杞简公有一支子孙先前被封在娄邑(今山东诸城)，灭国后以地名为姓氏，亦称娄氏。

【Meaning】 The character Lou (娄) is said to refer to a type of badger. According to the historical text Han Shi Wai Zhuan (Illustrations of Han's Odes), there was a beast in the north named "Lou."
【Origin】
From the Si (姒) Surname: The lineage traces back to the enfeoffed lands of the descendants of Yu the Great.
The State of Qi: King Wu of Zhou enfeoffed Donglou Gong (the 36th-generation descendant of Yu the Great) in the fief of Qi (modern-day Qi County, Henan).
Adopting the Fief Name: During the Warring States period (445 BC), King Hui of Chu destroyed the State of Qi. Duke Jian of Qi, the final monarch, had a branch of descendants who had previously been enfeoffed in Lou (modern-day Zhucheng, Shandong). Following the fall of their state, they adopted the name of their fief as their surname, becoming the Lou clan.
