【釋義】 傅，相也。傅的本義是傅佑、輔助。引申為教育、教導、師傅。

【起源】 商朝從盤庚遷都於殷（今河南安陽），從興旺到衰落。小乙而立的商高宗武丁，夢見一個叫說（yuè）的人，是理想中的聖人。就立即命群臣照他說的模樣四處尋訪。終於在傅岩（今山西平陸縣東隱賢村）找到了，原來是個從事版築（築土牆）的奴隸。武丁與他交談後，確認他真的是個聖人，便任他為相，果然天下大治，武丁也因此被譽為「中興明主」，因發現於傅岩，讓他以傅為姓，稱他為「傅說」。

Interpretation of the Fu (傅) Clan Totem

Definition of the Character: "傅" (Fu) means to assist or serve as a minister (xiang). The original meaning of the character is "to support" or "to aid" (fuyou). This later extended to meanings like education, guidance, and the term for a master or teacher (shifu).

Origin: During the Shang Dynasty, after the capital was moved to Yin (modern-day Anyang, Henan) by Pan Geng, the dynasty experienced a cycle of prosperity and decline. King Wuding (posthumously known as Emperor Gaozong), who succeeded Xiao Yi, dreamt of a man named Yue (pronounced yuè), whom he perceived to be a sage. He immediately ordered his ministers to search throughout the kingdom for a man matching the description from his dream. They eventually found him at Fuyan (east of modern-day Pinglu County, Shanxi), working as a slave performing banzhu (rammed earth wall construction). After speaking with him, Wuding realized he was indeed a sage and appointed him as Prime Minister. Under Yue's guidance, the kingdom flourished, and Wuding was hailed as a "Great Ruler of the Restoration." Because he was discovered at Fuyan, he was given the surname Fu and became known as Fu Yue.
